About

My house is a terra cotta brick mid-century ranch home on a tree-lined street two blocks from the park.  Built in 1955 by Mr. Beaman, the house has 9′ 3″ ceilings, hardwood floors, a single carport, and a big back yard.  Oh, and did I mention a pink bathroom?  Yeah.

Similar to my grandparents’ home, not much had changed since they built the home until I bought it.  When I moved in, every room except for the kitchen was off-white with off-white carpet.  One of the bathrooms featured bright pink tile with floral wallpaper.  The other bathroom was (and still is) mint green.  The kitchen was perhaps the most well-preserved room in the house with what looked to be the original linoleum floors and cabinets that hung from the center of the ceiling almost to the counter.  The cabinets were painted butter yellow and the cabinets were a nice shade of aquamarine.

That said, there were (and are) a few things that needed to be done to make it more my style.  This blog is about me taking on the challenge of renovating my first home, discovering my sense of style, and in the process, learning more about myself and the world around me.  I welcome your comments and feedback.
